Welcome to my Digital Portfolio
Hello! I have been teaching since 2012, and it has been an amazing journey. Until 2021, I worked in Utah as a social studies teacher. From 2016-2021, I spent 5 years at Merit Preparatory Academy, a public school in Springville, Utah, primarily as a social studies (though also as an ESL / Spanish) teacher, along with various other leadership roles. Since then, I spent 2 years working as an assistant principal in public education in Southern New Hampshire, relocating back to New England, where I had lived while in high school. Then in 2023, I returned to Utah to work at Valley View Middle School in Salem, Utah, and I have enjoyed being back in the classroom again!
I really enjoy my job, supporting the great staff, students and other stakeholders that I work with on a regular basis. I received my teaching degree, license and undergraduate from Brigham Young University (BYU), but since then have extended my schooling by finishing a certification & Master's degree in Educational Leadership at Southern Utah University (SUU), where I graduated in April 2020. The skills and knowledge this afforded me has allowed me to better serve my students and school, and for that I am grateful.

I created this digital website / portfolio to catalog some of the work I've done during my educational career, as well as much of the work I've accomplished while earning my administrative licensure and M.Ed. One class I took, EDUC 6100: Practices of Instructional Supervision taught me all about how to effectively evaluate and supervise teachers. A more holistic method for teacher evaluation they suggested was to encourage teacher portfolios. I agreed with the idea, and decided to create my own, as a way to model what I would expect of myself, as well as those teachers I might be supervising. The standards / model I am basing it on come from Nolan & Hoover's Teacher Supervision and Evaluation textbook (2010), and I believe their model is sound. I'll be referencing it throughout the rest of this project, and using its structure to guide the remainder of my own portfolio.
Thank you for looking, and I hope you find it useful. I know that by organizing my work, student artifacts, reflections, etc. in this manner, I myself was better able to consider my own teaching practices and beliefs. I hope that any other educators looking at it may do the same, and then utilize similar methods to improve their own teaching, instruction, reflection and metacognition.
